1- Thandi Chaane
Executive Chairman Siyakha Consulting -

Prior to her role at Siyakha, Thandi was the CEO of Eva Solutions, the first wholly black owned female management consulting firm. EVA, under the leadership of Thandi, was involved in several Government departments and facilitated the strategy formulation of the Public Service Commission. Thandi is personally involved with Interventions that include conflict handling, change management, diversity management, and motivational speaking. Prior to her work with Eva Solutions Thandi became the first female Deputy Director General of the Gauteng Education Government. She has extensive experience in training, facilitation, mediation, project management, change management, diversity and business management and is a board member of Prime Media, Juta Publishers and AOC Geomatrics. Thandi was awarded the Woman of Purpose Award by Tribute Magazine in 2000.

 


2- Mr Elias Masilela
Chief Executive Officer -

CEO of the Public Investment Corporation (PIC). Top 40 list, Alan Paton nominee for 2007. Previous employers are the Central Bank of Swaziland, National Treasury and Sanlam. He holds a BA degree in Social Sciences (Economics and Statistics) from the University of Swaziland, and a MSc in Economic Policy and Analysis with a specialisation in Money, Banking and International Economics from the Addis Ababa University. He originated and ran several policy initiatives in South Africa and has lectured, written and published widely. One of his latest writings entitled “Number 43 Trelawney Park; kwaMagogo” was amongst a few select titles identified to represent South Africa at the London Book Fair Market Focus in April 2010. He has sat on many influential Boards in South Africa such as the Boards of the South African Savings Institute (SASI), South African Reserve Bank (SARB), Government Employee Pension Fund (GEPF) and the Economic Research Southern Africa (ERSA). He continues to influence thinking in South Africa, on policy, through his continued engagement as an opinion writer and commentator in the media.


3- Ms Shiva Makotoko
Head-Public Sector -

Shiva holds a Masters with Honours in Economics & Management from Scotland, UK. She has undertaken a number of short courses in Public Finance and on the Financial Sector generally, including an Executive Leadership Development Programme through Bank Seta-Wits University. As Head of Public Sector, Shiva is responsible for developing the strategy for the Sector in SA, and selected African countries.Since starting her career in the Public Sector, Shiva has contributed extensively to the development of legislation in the country, particularly Public Finance Management legislation, including MFMA, Property Rates Act, reviews of PFMA, Constitution, Division of Revenue, etc. She has served in Audit Committees, Boards, and as a Panel member for numerous Government Committees and Initiatives particularly as they relate to Public/Local Government Finance and Fiscal Policy. In 2005, she received an Award as the “Most Outstanding Manager in the Public Sector” for her work on Project Consolidate. Her strengths are on Public Finance & Fiscal Policy.


4- Cobus Stander
Divisional Director – Finance and Operations Public Sector Consulting -

Cobus started his career with a high profile audit firm, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2000. His focus shifted to the Public Sector in 2001 and he has been delivering innovative consulting solutions to the Public Sector since then. He was a technical team member with National Treasury to develop strategies around the implementation of a nationwide public sector Financial Management Improvement Programme. This project focused on the “cash to accrual” move in the Public Sector and asset management implementation. Cobus was a principal author of the “cash to accrual strategy” for the National Treasury as well as a key technical advisor for the duration of the project.

Over the last few years, EOH Public Sector Advisory, where Cobus is a Divisional Director, has developed innovative and relevant technology solutions to assist the Public Sector. These solutions enable EOH, to work with ourclients in areas such as capital infrastructure, asset management and management accounting, in order to improve financial and operational management.


5- Gaba Tabane
Director | Consulting | BPS • Deloitte Consulting Pty Ltd -

Gaba holds a B.Com (Honours) degree in Management and MBA in Finance and Marketing and is a Director in the Revenue Maximization Service Line of Deloitte and the consulting industry leader for Public Sector Services. He has over ten years experience in corporate and Government executive leadership roles, with a large portion of this focussed on providing value added services to the Public Sector in South Africa. Gaba has experience in corporate strategy, business reengineering processes and investment and trade promotion. He has been focussing predominantly on the State Owned entities in South Africa, i.e SARS, SAPO, Stats SA as well key departments of the Public Sector like the Gauteng Department of Education.


6- Joel Ugborogho

Joel Ugborogho is the Principal Consultant and Director of Kwazi Information Systems. An experienced IT professional and Consultant with over 18 years experience in the industry, his main areas of expertise are in Programme/Project Management, Business Transformation, IT Strategy, Change Management and Business Analysis. He holds a Masters in Information Systems Development from the London School of Economics. Joel has global experience in IT and has worked in the UK, Netherlands and South Africa for major organisations such as CITCO Fund Services, KPN, Businesslink.gov.uk, HMCE, European Union, Standard Bank, Anglo American and Vodacom. Responsible for multi-million dollar (USD) projects, Joel has been accountable to CIOs, CEOs and Project boards from a delivery, implementation, budgetary and stakeholder management viewpoint on strategic projects in the Finance, Telecommunications, Education and Mining industries.


7- Justin Scharneck
Principal Consultant – Specialist EOH Public Sector -

Justin Scharneck is a Principal Consultant Specialist at EOH Public Sector Consulting. EOH Public Sector forms part of EOH Limited, under the Chairmanship of Dr Matthews Phosa, and is one of the fastest growing companies on the JSE, offering services ranging from strategic and business process consulting, finance, project services, change management and other management consulting services to public sector clients nationwide. EOH Public Sector has implemented in excess of three hundred projects within the public sector. Justin has recently been appointed as the head of the business unit’s public sector finance line of business. He has led teams of technical finance experts within the Provincial Public Sector finance environment. Furthermore, having interacted with leading officials within both provincial and national spheres of government, Justin has demonstrated thought leadership through devising innovative and practical technical financial accounting solutions to some leading challenges impacting infrastructure and movable asset accounting at a national level.


8- Dionne Kerr

Dionne Kerr has worked as a management consultant focusing on providing solutions to the private and public sectors in performance, productivity and people management since 1999. She is the Chairperson of the National Association of BEE Consultants (NABC). She has advised companies on issues around Black Economic Empowerment (BEE), human resources, job creation programmes and organisational development for the past 10 years, and has developed BEE strategies for South African and global companies across several industries. Dionne has also engaged with a number of trade missions from all over the world on issues around
investment in South Africa.

An avid believer in community development, Dionne remains actively involved in entrepreneurial development, community development, job creation, disability support programmes and youth development. She is a past recipient of the DIVA Africa award for her involvement in SMME development, was a lead advisor to UK Trade and Investment. Her prestigious CV has also ensured Dionne’s recent selection as a judge for the Black Business Quarterly (BBQ) Awards, the Top Women Awards 2010, the Achiever Awards 2010 and the Metropolitan Olivier Empowerment Awards for 3 years consecutively. Dionne is a regular contributor through the media including BBQ Scorecard, Achiever Magazine, the Financial Mail online newsletters and others.


9- Mr Leon Claassen
Analyst Ratings Afrika -

Leon Claassen is an analyst at Ratings Afrika responsible for municipal governance and sustainability evaluations. He has more than 20 years’ experience in credit analysis and was the Country Manager for Moody’s South Africa before joining Ratings Afrika. Previously he was a director and co-founder of CA-Ratings, a local ratings agency which was acquired by Moody’s in April 2007. Primary rating responsibilities included municipalities, financial institutions, banks and fund ratings.

He further shared responsibility for structured and project finance ratings. Other previous experience includes merchant banking, auditing and teaching. Leon Claassen is a Chartered Accountant (SA) with a B. Com Honours degree and a Higher Education Diploma from Potchefstroom University.
